Welcome to Ruby Young Medical & Environmental Sciences Magnet Academy

At RUBY YOUNG MEDICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES ACADEMY, we are committed to providing an environment that builds a solid foundation for our future scholars. Each day, students, teachers and administrators share in a common goal to provide a thriving learning environment that promotes academic success far beyond the classroom.

What's Happening

Greetings Platinum Families!

Please review the following items as we approach the beginning of a new school year.

We need Back-to-School Welcome Staff volunteers! Click the link below if you are available on the morning of Monday, Aug. 19:

  • PTA dues are $10 per parent or teacher this year! It is a small amount that can do amazing things! Open the attachment below to find out all the benefits of becoming a PTA member! Mrs. Reniqua Spellman is our new PTA president. She can be reached at rubyyoungespta@gmail.com, and is looking for a few volunteers to serve on this year's PTA leadership board. PTA will sponsor a booth at our Meet the Teacher night, Friday, Aug. 16, from 6:00-7:30. Students whose parents sign up and pay their membership dues by this day will receive a "Hat Pass" to wear the head cover of their choice during the school year. 2019-20 PTA Flyer.pdf
  • Attached below, please find the list of school supplies needed for all DISD K-5 students. If you need assistance with any of these items, contact our counselor, Ms. Johnson, at melendra.johnson@desotoisd.org
  • Elementary 2019-2020 School Supplies.pdf
  • This Saturday is the A2E2 Magnet Program Orientation at DHS Academy from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There are still spaces available in the Medical and Environmental Sciences tracts, if you want your child to participate in Ruby Young magnet offerings this year.
  • Meet The Teacher at Ruby Young will be held Friday, Aug. 16, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. You may bring student supplies, with child’s first/last name and grade level clearly marked.

  • Enrollment information can be found at the link above. Enrollment hours on campus are 8:00-11:00 and 1:00-3:00, Monday-Friday. Please follow the steps below to ensure your child can begin school on time Aug. 19, 2020.

    1) Complete 2020 online registration (electronic devices are available on campus to complete this step, if you do not have Internet access)

    2) Provide copy of a current utility bill (dated within the past 30 days), lease or rental agreement for proof of residency

    3) Immunization records

  • If you live in a zone for a campus other than RYE, and you wish to transfer to RYE for a reason other than participation in the medical/environmental sciences magnet program*, please call 972-223-6666 and ask for Vernette Moss.

  • All transfer students (both in-district and out-of-district) must complete the Student Services Information Form.

  • Returning families: please log into Parent Portal and update all information for the 2019, 2020 school year. Please make sure medical data and emergency contacts are correct.

*Acceptance to this program results in automatic transfer to RYE

Total 2018-19 Hours: 438!

Goal for 2019-20: 600!

If you would like to invest your time in our campus to support our staff and students, please be sure to register in the VOLY system, and sign up for the opportunities in which you are interested. The link is https://desotoisd.voly.org

Important: Please check-in when you volunteer. The district is logging hours for each campus, and we want everyone to know that RYE is the best in DISD!
